Clamping threat looms over footballers
The changing rooms on the downs

It has been confirmed that cars that are illegally parked on the Downs will be clamped and towed away by Bristol City Council.

Members of the Downs League committee met with officials this week to try and solve the parking problem.
Cars that are illegally parked will now be clamped.
Bristol City Council has already expressed its concern about parking close to the junction of Ladies' Mile near the Downs League changing rooms.

The council threatened to cancel Saturday matches if it could prove that footballers were to blame for the dangerously parked cars.

Student football teams had their matches cancelled after several cars were driven onto the grass close to the pitches.

It has now been decided that the council's downs ranger will clamp any cars parked on the grass or too close to the junction. Vehicles could then be towed away by the council.

The Downs League Management Committee say they fully support this course of action.

Clubs have been advised at every meeting this season that the council took the issue of parking very seriously.
